How to care for your reindeer hide

Reindeer hides are a popular - and timeless - decorative item for your home. They will last for many years and continue to look good if you follow these tips to help keep them in great condition:

Where to place your reindeer hides

Position in a low traffic area - try to avoid stepping, sitting, or walking on your reindeer hides too frequently or for long periods of time to prevent shedding of the hairs.

It’s also best to not place your reindeer hides too close to sources of extreme heat such as directly in front of a fire, in conservatories, close to a radiator or in rooms with underfloor heating.

Animals love to dig out the long hair so try not to place in your pet’s favourite spot or let them get too attached to your hides!

Cleaning and drying your hides

To remove any dirt, gently shake reindeer hides by hand outside, or use a low setting and attachment on your vacuum cleaner and gently vacuum from top to bottom.

Reindeer hides are naturally waterproof and can be used outside. However if your hide does get very wet, try to dry it out soon after. Leave them to dry naturally outside, preferably in bright natural light but not direct sunlight, as the heat can cause excess shedding of the hairs.
